Despite this bright, London spring weather we've had recently, you may have noticed a bit of a white snow gracing my Instagram. Yep, I popped over to Switzerland for a weekend with my Zurich-based gal pals and it was GREAT. It was a much needed mini-holiday and it was started in some SERIOUS style at World Duty Free in Heathrow Terminal 5.
Due to the money-saving accountant side of me, stocking up on beauty essentials at Duty Free is a mandatory stop every time I go to the airport. Seriously, it's like going to the cinema and not having popcorn, it's just a must-do right?
The lovely team at World Duty Free got in touch to see if I'd like to try out their beauty services before I fly. Err, an hour full of treatments using my favourite brands whilst sipping champagne? It was an easy decision. So I headed off to the airport, far too many hours in advance of my flight (y'know, to really make the most of it..)
First stop on this journey was the Jo Malone counter, where I had a relaxing hand and arm massage. The new Geranium & Walnut scrub was massaged onto my arms, gently polishing and revealing super soft skin. This was then followed by the sumptuous Lime & Basil Shower Oil - it smells amazing and left my arms glowing. I would definitely consider buying this for myself as I'm far too forgetful/lazy to put on body cream afterwards.
The experience was finished with a light spritz of the new Nasturtium & Clover cologne - part of the new Herb Garden range. It's light and fresh so not too overpowering for the flight - I hate it when all you can smell is your own perfume! Plus, on flights, all the air is recirculated so YOU NEVER ESCAPE it.
I then headed over to La Prairie for a luxurious facial using the Swiss Cellular Ice Crystal collection, It's made from a plant that survives in the harshest of conditions, and the science behind it is transferred into protective skincare.
I've never used La Prairie before because, to be honest, its faaaar outside of my budget, so a mini facial treatment like this is a great way to try the products - for free!
Once my facial was complete, my skin felt radiant and fresh but I NEEDED makeup - and quickly!
So I headed over to NARS where makeup artist Sara transformed my naked face into a 'my face but better' makeup look using the new NARS velvet matte foundation - very tempted to buy this but I restrained myself...
A makeover at NARS, and with a glass of champagne, heaven or what??
The best thing is that all of these services are available to EVERYONE. World Duty Free offer these mini treatments to all travellers, without booking and for no fee. The only issue is making sure you don't forget about your flight!!
After NARS, I headed over to GHD and had my hair styled into loose curls, ready for the day ahead. We used the latest GHD Platinum styler which slips through hair like a dream and the curved edges give it a really sleek look.
These treatments in the Terminal are such a good idea because you can try out the products and services before buying - and also get to discover brands and products you may not have found by yourself.
Transformation complete, it was time to stock up on some discounted beauty essentials (and some non essentials too of course!)
World Duty Free have finally got it together and introduced a Burberry Beauty stand! I was in the mood to treat myself so I bought a blusher that I've been eyeing up for months. The Burberry Light Glow Blush in Earthy - the perfect, cool taupe shade for natural looking contouring. RRP £29 and I bought it for £24.
I also bought the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I'd sampled from my Selfridges beauty advent calendar! It's a facial oil that is, quite simply, the lightest facial oil I've ever used. It absorbs super quickly and the powerful ingredients are meant to transform your skin overnight. I like the fact that it smells nice and glides over your face really easily. RRP £37 and I bought it for £30
And if that wasn't enough, I ALSO bought an Estée Lauder Pure Envy lipstick - one of my favourite lipstick ranges alongside Charlotte Tilbury. To justify this, I chose a colour that I didn't have many of at home - Decadent, a brown toned dark red. Again, I saved almost £5 off the RRP price!
FINALLY - I stocked up on my favourite mascara, Benefit Rollerlash - which was 2 tubes for £29.80, when the RRP is normally 1£9.50 each. Such a bargain!! (See my Rollerlash review and pictures here) - I'm also giving one of these full-size mascaras away in my Easter competition below!

So all in all, a successful shopping trip- I rocked up in Zurich looking and feeling a million dollars! The champagne on the flight helped too... Thank you to World Duty Free and the lovely concierge team headed up by Mish. I had a great time.
The beauty services are open to anyone travelling from the terminal, so next time, why not consider arriving a bit earlier and pampering yourself? Be warned though, at these prices, it's very likely you'll end up buying a few things!
What do YOU think of the idea of Beauty Services at Duty Free?? What are the regular products that you stock up on?
