London Fashion Week SS16 Show Summary & Trend Report

So I went to London Fashion Week and what happened? Other than constantly pinching myself and thinking 'Omg what am i doing here!?'. Just like my time at LFW AW15, I was running around backstage, interviewing makeup artists and stylists and going to shows for Yahoo Style

I've been allll over London, wrecked a pair of shoes, bandaged 6 toes, drank about 200 bottles of coconut water  and it has been GREAT fun. Of course it's not all sunshine and roses though , there was a 5:30am start on Saturday and also an absolute wreck of a thunderstorm but here's a full summary and photos of what happened at LFW SS16...

I started backstage at FELDER FELDER - with the lovely team at Schwarzkopf, here's a little snippet of my interview with Armin Morbach, who was talking about how to get the hair you had when you were 16!

You know what? I think almost I prefer going backstage to being at the show.

It's absolutely chaotic, there's about 3 stylists on every model but it's good fun and there's lots of great techniques to pick up and beauty products to inspect. For any makeup or hair styling fiend, it's heaven!

Joanne Stoker presentation in the Made showroom!
My fave street style look!

THE BEST BIT.

The highlight for me was the Sophia Webster presentation. It was super dreamy, featuring pastel models dressed as mermaids in a desert island laundromat. Look at the accessories!!

Yes - there's a model in the washing machine at the Sophia Webster presentation!

Best Venue.
I also loved the venue for Temperley at 1 Marylebone. I've been there before for an event but the disco ball made it look incredible - unfortunately the high contrast lighting made it hard to get good photos once the show started.

Favourite Collection.

In terms of clothes, it's a tough one but one of my favourite SS16 collections was Bora Aksu. A host of feminine, sheer, floaty dresses and delicate lace creations in both clean pastels and punchy candy colours.

Everything was wearable and I instantly went online to see what the price point was. I loved it all - especially the glitzy short suits!

The Trends

Fashion wise - we're going back to girly, feminine looks. Floral & geometric prints are big and bold, but still delicate. Lace and embellishments are still around, but in a fresh, clean way rather than glittery and showy.

Shapes are floaty and cut outs were rife! Colourwise, think your typical spring pastels, clean white and tropical candy colours like coral and hot pink. Oh - and hats! Brimmed hats are back - whether they're oversized or schoolgirl.

Apu Jan SS16 - big hat!

Instgrammable perfection at Edeline Lee

For Beauty trends, it's all about going back to basics, but beautifully. The beauty look is what I'm calling "healthy luxe" - like the best, most polished version of yourself without makeup. Skin is glowy in a more translucent way rather than shiny and dewy.

Hair is glossy and shiny, not over processed or over styled, with flyaways tamed. Hair styling comes in the form of braids. Nails are soft and in silky muted colours - I predict a modern version of the French manicure is going to make a comeback!

I'll be doing detailed outfit posts over the next few days but for now that's it - I've got a couple of posts to crack out for Yahoo now but I can't wait to show you my outfits! Stay tuned!

What do YOU think of the pics? Aren't Sophia Webster and Edeline Lee collections just DREAMY? Tweet me your thoughts @FaceValueBlog or send me a comment on Facebook!
