Beauty at Tesco? So I've seen the aisles lined with Rimmel and Maybelline but I confess, it's not the first place I think of going to for my beauty fix. I normally consider Boots as my beauty Mecca.
That was until I tried BD Trade Secrets, Tesco's own beauty range.
Evolved from the original Barbara Daly range, BD Trade Secrets is a collection of sleek looking essentials at very affordable prices - prices start from £2.99.
We've been brought up to think that expensive means better but is that the case? Check out my highlights from the range and decide for yourself!
Let's be honest, it looks like something that I once got free with Bliss magazine - but the content quality is great! Such a shame that the lid is transparent, if it was a glossy black it would just look ten times more expensive.
The formulations are well pigmented but easily blendable and the colours are great - I just wish it didn't look so cheap as the results are very good!
The star of the show is the Va Va Boom mascara - top name, well done Tesco.
I've never seen a brush like it, the Va Va Boom is curved in the middle and fans out at both ends, what is this!!!? What is it? Genius for curling lashes, that's what.
It gives absolutely heaps of volume from the first coat, so fans of the "natural look" and those with really fair eyelashes might want to steer clear. However, if like me you like your lashes full on and FAT, then this mascara does the job.
It reminds me a bit of Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara but with a double curve not just one curve.
Finally, this BDTrade Secrets lipstick is also worth a mention. The quality and the coverage are decent and it doesn't taste cheap like some cheap lipsticks do but it's not breaking any ground here.
I did really like the colour though, it's called COUTURE and it's a dusky pink/brown shade aka perfect for Kylie Jenner lips. I rubbed my lips together and it created this great lip liner effect - boom.
All in all, a very respectable range - with prices reflecting the lack of investment in packaging rather than the product itself.
I would definitely look into buying these, such a shame that my local Tesco doesn't stock the BD Trade Secrets Range! Thank god for Online Shopping!
