Hair Loss Help from Old Wives Tail Hair Oil

Did you know the average human loses 50 to hundred strands of hair a day? I don't know whether I'm just a hair shedding freak of nature but I probably moult double that! Thank god I've got wooden floors...

This actually reminds me of a weird story where I was 9 years old and in a shop in Malaysia. I felt a tap on my shoulder it was the shop assistant who then proceeded to hand me one of my stray hairs. The worst thing was that I was so embarassed because he was relatively good looking and I was like ohmagoddd a guy is speaking to meee.

Years later, I've since realised that giving hairs to young girls is probably not socially acceptable behaviour (not to mention downright weird - like hair-sniffing guy from Charlie's angels) but at the time I just said thanks, held onto it and dropped it on the street some minutes later. THANKS?! What was I thinking? I make a gift to you of thine own hair, why thank you kind squire.. what?!

Anyway, reminiscing aside, this somewhat brings me onto the topic of today. HAIR LOSS.

Over the last few weeks I've been trying this Anti-Hair Loss Hair Oil by Old Wives Tail. Old Wives Tail is a small haircare company which sells handmade 100% organic products with zero additives or chemicals.

First of all - kudos for the name! Zoe Dubs loves a good pun and play on words.

Second of all - this stuff is good! Completely different to the commercially produced hair oils of now, this Old Wives is made with Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Almond, Lavender and Clove oil. It literally feels like minty olive oil in my hand and the consistency is relatively easy to work with.

The Old Wives Tail hair oils actually come in a range and this is the anti hair loss version. As such, the formula includes natural anti-bacterial agents which soothe the scalp. This gives it a herbal, almost medicinal, smell which is a refreshing change to the sweet, flowery scents of regular hair oils. This one just screams "im sooo good for your scalp!"

Application is simple enough - apply to scalp and lengths, massage, let it sit as long as possible and then rinse out.

This jar is probably enough for about 5 applications on long hair, this is how much I used in 2 uses.

The smell is definitely unique and, in combination with the slightly tingly feel on my scalp, is actually super calming when in the shower.

The only downside for me is the application - put it in a bottle!!! Scooping out the jar is both unhygienic and a big PAIN in my butt. Thankfully I like this product enough that it won't last long enough to really cause a problem...

Other than that, my scalp felt refreshed, my hair was bouncier and I was really pleased with the results! I wouldn't say that this Old Wives Tail oil is a hair repairing oil though. My hair did feel stronger and healthier but this oil isn't targeted at repairing brittle hair. It's a lot, lot lighter than argan oils like Macadamia Oil so it can go into your roots, that's the winning difference for me.

Priced at £13.99 (but currently on offer for 9.99), I would buy this again. Mainly because it smells like no other hair oil I've used. It feels like it's really good for your scalp! Just wish it was in a bottle!

Is packaging a big deal for you or do you decant your own?

I'd love to have pretty bottles and jars for stuff but I'm nowhere near enough organised.

Also - do you think you lose 100 hairs a day?! Thinking about it, 100 is quite a lot!
