So my last post was a little introduction to my new Stila goodies, and now I've had some time to play, I did a little makeup look for you!!
I've firmly shut the lid on my summer makeup box but although the fake tans and bronzers have been put on the bench, the glowy look is STILL in. Dewy skin takes a bit of a backseat during summer because it can be mistaken for shiny-face sweatiness (blergh) but autumn/winter is when it really comes into it's own.
Today's look is a real "Sunday Morning" makeup look - really fresh faced, natural and glowing - but still polished and defined. The kind of "I'm not wearing any makeup" makeup which I frequently try to fool Mr FV with. I swear, I've spent absolute yeeeears trying to perfect it!
BEWARE - giant selfies ahead.
Today's 'In The Light' makeup look centers around the glow - but not in the J-Lo sense. Think Instagram-blurred skin and subtle shimmery accents on cheeks and eyes.
- Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette
- Stila Convertible Colour (Lilium)
- Stila All Over Shimmer Duo (Kitten)
- Stila Stay All Day Brow Colour
- Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
- Bourjois Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation (reviewed in Building My Base here)
- Oriflame 'The One' Illuskin Face Powder (see more on Oriflame The One here)
- L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
For the eyes I used my brand new Stila In The Light palette, funnnnnnnnnnn!!!
I applied Bliss (matte taupe brown) all over the lid, up to the brow bone, with Sunset (shimmery copper brown) in the socket and over the lid and Sandstone (dark shimmer brown) in the outside corner to widen the eye.
Under the eye, I applied Night Sky (steel blue shimmer) and Bubbly (Champagne Gold) in alternate smudges, starting with Bubbly in the the inner corners. I also applied Bubbly as a highlight in the centre of the eyelid for a bit of depth.
The key part to this look is glowing, healthy looking cheeks. Most of the time I fake this with highlighter, but there's a much simpler way - use cream blush!
I loveeee cream blush for a natural-looking glowy colour. When I was in New York, I bought these Dream Bouncy blushers by Maybelline and fell in love with the natural, airbrushed look! The only downside is that I don't like to use creams and gels on my cheeks as my skin is very prone to getting spots if I use anything except powders!
As part of my Stila Makeup Haul, I got this amazing Convertible Colour which is brilliantly versatile and easy to use!
In this look, I rubbed the Stila Convertible Colour into my cheeks, and also applied it on my lips.
So there we go - the finished look! Natural, dewy autumn skin with a hint of shimmer.
What do you think? Do you like the natural makeup look?
Will you be changing up your makeup as we approach autumn-winter?
