What I Wore To The Wedding: Warehouse & Flowers

In place of the normal "What I Wore To Work", today it's another "What I Wore To The Wedding" special! My gorgeous friends Jack & Olive got married last weekend and I was honoured to attend their beautiful celebrations.

And what a wedding it was - I'm talking sweeping marble staircases, seven stunning bridesmaids, a performance by Burberry model Roo Panes and six REAL blossom trees brought into the church (I still haven't gotten over those) - I wouldn't expect any less from a Porter Magazine wedding!

So what did I wear?

The Dress

I decided to go for a Spring Lady-like vibe with this cerise, faux two-piece dress from Warehouse. A demure length but with sheer panels, this dress is perfect for both church and the reception partyyyy afterwards.

I've teamed it with nude heels (not very original but works everytime) and my trusty quilted clutch which also featured in my last "What I Wore To The Wedding" post. Everyone has their reliable wedding shoes and bags right?

Not pictured, is the long-line pastel yellow blazer I teamed it with - rolled up sleeves of course.

The Makeup

The challenge with weddings is to wear makeup which will look appropriate (dare I say natural) during the day but can also be amped up for the evening.

I went for Bourjois Healthy Mix for a radiant glow  (see here for a review) - I chose Healthy Mix as it doesn't have SPF which means I can prevent that dreaded flashback from the night time photos.  (always thinking ahead!!)

To avoid looking too shiny, I patted Oriflame The One Pressed Powder (more on that coming this week!) on top and I used an ELF powder blush in St Lucia (the powder version of this one) to create defined, but subtle contouring.

On my eyelids, I used the Sleek I-Divine Eye Palette in Au Naturel. From this awesome eye palette, I used Nubucka light taupe shade all over the lid and then applied Conker, a frosted mahogany with a damp brush in the corners. I then dusted Taupe, actually a shimmery champagne colour, in the middle of the lid to give extra dimension.

To amp up the drama at night, I layered on more mascara and applied a darker berry-toned lipstick.

The Nails

I was running late, so I hashed out a quick ombre nail in 10 minutes using Model's Own Hypergel Polish in Pink Veneer and Lilac Sheen, with a little bit of Nails Inc Jewellery in Princes Arcade to add a bit of interest (and to hide the mistakes!)

Pastels are perfect for spring and these matched the flowers in my hair. The flowers are hair clips available from ASOS, little flowers attached to kirby grips!

So there we go - a spring, ladylike look for the perfect party. What do you like best - the dress, the hair, the nails? Let me know!

The second issue of Porter Magazine is out now. Definitely recommend this for a contemporary, intelligent and beautiful read.
