My first FOTD: I'm going out-out.

So here it is, my first Face Of The Day post. Except, I'm not doing Face Of The Day, I'm doing Face Of Last Night - because judging by the way last night went, you do nahhhhht wanna see this morning's Face.

For those new to what Face Of The Day is - basically, I upload a makeup look and then discuss it! I'll talk about the products I used, how I applied them plus any FaceValue tips I have - alllllll sprinkled with colourful exclamation marks and lame attempts at being funny. HOORAY.

Right - let's go - my first Face Of The Day...

Quite a typical going out-out look for me - dramatic eyes, defined brows, contouring and a punchy lip - a wholeeee lotta slap to be fair.

So what am I wearing???

Back to Base-ics.

So let's start with the base - I'm a firm believer that the trick to looking good is always down to a flawless base. I buffed foundation in circular motions using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush from the centre of my face outwards.

I then used a fine concealer brush to dot concealer over spots - mates, I can talk for houuuurs about how to get a flawless base - it's all about covering the necessary not covering EVERYTHING. I'll do a separate post on concealing next week....

Three kinds of blusher.....

Cheeky Cheeks

When you're wearing a strong lip, you need to keep your cheeks fairly natural - think lots of dewiness and a bit of 'natural' contouring.

On my cheeks I used my new Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette (courtesy of LookFantastic.com)

For details on how to use it like I have - see my earlier post which discusses how to colour, contour and highlight to your hearts content.

I also used the highlighter from the Naked Flushed Palette to line my bottom lashline which leads me onto......

Bright Eyes

Taking a shimmery colour into the inner corners really adds a bit of light to the face, helping to open and brighten tired eyes.

After lining the eye with the highlighter, I smudged Bourjois Eyeshadow in Noir Emeraude into the bottom lashes.

This colour is a very dark glittery green - so you get the definition you expect from a black liner, but without looking so harsh. Perfecto.

Over the top of the lid I applied Noir Precieux all over the lid and slightly over the crease.

Noir Precieux is a lovely black/purple colour and perfect for the evening. It has the drama impact that black shadow brings, but with a slight hint of colour so it doesn't get too emo-goth on yo ass.

Get Lashed.

A pair of sky scraper false lashes finishes the look. I SAY don't be afraid to cut lashes to suit your eye shape.

I've cut mine extra short at the edges so that it brings height to the centre of my eye and makes them look more round.

FaceValueTip: A Falsies habit can get expensive - at at least £5 a pop these days! I buy in bulk on Ebay. You can buy about 10 pairs of eyelashes for that price on Ebay - the only downsides that they come from China and take about 2 weeks to arrive.

I also wouldn't use their glue... I buy big bottles of eyelash glue from Eyelure instead of faffing around with those teeeeny tiny bottles which i keep dropping and losing under my cupboard......

Lips de Resistance

Finally - on my lips, after a good buffing by E.L.F Lip Exfoliator, I applied Barry M Moisturising Lip Paint

It's the same as the normal Lip Paint series but with Cocoa Butter for a soft but intense finish.

The colour - Vicious Violet comes out a red wine-fushcia mix. Perfect for those who want to go a bit 'dark-gothic' whilst still keeping pretty.

I left the gloss at home and kept it matte but if you like a bit of shine, this colour really amplifies under a layer of gloss!

And there we go - my first Face Of The Day!

Do you use any of these products? What's your normal out-out face like?

Are you a big lashes or bold lips fan? OR BOTH? How much would you spend on false lashes?
